Life The Green Way

The Washington State Department of Agriculture inspects the dairy at least once every 22 months. Inspectors look at our facilities, land applications, and crop records for risks of nutrients impacting either ground or surface water quality. The Cow Palace has passed every test.

One way the Cow Palace lessens our environmental impact is by taking an agronomic approach to the spread of nutrients into the soil. Agronomics is a scientific approach to soil management that uses the principles of economics to the production of crops and livestock.

Simply put, the amount of nitrogen present in nutrients is calculated to be the exact amount that plants will consume from the soil, so no extra nitrogen seeps into the soil, which is a good thing for the environment.

With yearly inspections and procedures in place to limit the dairy's impact on the environment, the Cow Palace takes many steps to run a green operation.
